What is Acres?

Acres is a visual Markdown notes app for macOS and Windows. It keeps Markdown cards on an infinite canvas as plain files in a folder you control. Coding agents can use its local MCP server to read notes, create cards and propose edits, making research and project context available alongside their development workflow. A CLI is available through the developer source checkout. Built-in AI works with your own provider keys or local models, and edits can be reviewed and undone. Organize information with connections, mindmaps, sections, tags and properties. Acres offers a 14-day trial without an account or payment details. Continued editing costs $59 for an early-adopter lifetime local-use license, or $9/month for Acres Plus with app access, Sync and Publish. Notes remain readable after the trial without a license.
